Cornelis Lampsins was one of the most important shipowners of the Golden Age and employer of the man who later became the Vlissingen sea hero Michiel de Ruyter. His splendidly restored mansion from 1641 forms the heart of a new museum in the old inner city of Vlissingen, opposite the yacht marina. In a group of buildings from the 16th, 17th and 21st century that have been linked together by modern architecture in a spectacular fashion, the rich maritime heritage of Vlissingen is revived.
In the two historical warehouses of the muZEEum alternating exhibitions are devoted to a variety of maritime topics.
